This job isn’t hard.

People think it’s blood and blinking crosshairs, but it’s not.  

It’s paperwork. Tone-matching. Neural decay masks. Data friction.

You don’t make truth disappear by silencing it.  

You make it slide sideways until it’s *not worth pursuing.*

And I’m good at it.

I’ve rewritten pilot registry trails, glitched implant banks, pulled entire threads out of news loops like they were lint.  

By the time anyone asks the second question, they can’t even remember the first.

But this one’s different.

Her name was Jara Molari.  

Scope investigator. Good. Sharp. Kept backups where no one stores backups. Left notes in obsolete file types so the scanners wouldn’t trip.

She died three systems from the Gate. The official report said it was a nav burn.

The **unofficial** report said she transmitted something before she went.

I got her terminal. Cleared it. Cleared the echo logs.  

Then I ran a private hash over the burn layer just for practice. Just for me.

Found a ghost fragment. A nameplate tag:  

> “8057-A // T.SOL // Originfall”

That’s when I started dreaming.

Not of her.  

Of buildings I’ve never seen.  

Sunlight I’ve never felt.  

A word I can’t say without feeling **homesick.**

I know the protocols.  

I’ve even used GREY-13 on people like me before.

But I’m writing this anyway.  

In a buffer. In a shell no one monitors. Because if I say it out loud, it becomes real.

And if it’s real…

...then we weren’t built to forget.  

We were trained to.
