It was a closed-door review panel.  

Seven of us. No cameras. No recordings.

We were told we’d be reviewing archival compliance discrepancies tied to *emergent exploratory narratives with cultural destabilization potential.*  

What a mouthful.

The packet was six pages.  

Five were legal precedent references.  

One was a single paragraph.

It read:

> “GREY-13 is an operational doctrine that authorizes CONCORD and authorized partner nations to suppress, erase, or recategorize truths which, if made public, may irreparably damage cluster cohesion or foundational cosmological identity.”

Foundational cosmological identity.

We weren’t shown examples.  

We weren’t allowed to ask questions.  

We were asked to approve **retroactive authorization of actions taken under this doctrine.**

Three board members objected.

None of them returned to the final vote.

They didn’t vanish. They weren’t erased.  

They were just… moved.  

To advisory positions in backwater planets.  

One started writing poems on local networks about “The Cradle’s Heat.” I think he’s losing it.

The vote passed 4-0.

I don’t know what truth we buried.

But I do know this:

They didn’t want our permission.

They just wanted **a witness**.

And now I am one.
